JOINT STATEMENT OF THE COMMUNIST AND WORKERS' PARTIES OF THE BALKANS

The Communist and Workers’ parties of the Balkans which have co-signed this statement express our solidarity with the Palestinian people and our opposition to the ongoing Israeli occupation.

Up to and including the present day more than 110 countries have recognised the Palestinian state. The issue is expected to be tabled at the General Assembly of the UN this September.

We consider that an important step for the vindication of the struggle of the Palestinian people will be its liberation from the barbarity of the Israeli army’s occupation forces and the creation of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state, with the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, next to Israel.

We call on the governments of the Balkan countries to take a position in relation to this international initiative and to support directly the demand for the recognition of the Palestinian state with the 167 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as a member-state of the UN.
